Tsakhkadzor-The Only Ski Resort of Armenia-Guest Post

My friend Jemma from Armenia recently paid a visit to Tsakhkadzor, one of the most popular alpine meadows of Armenia which remains Armenia's only ski resort. Here is what she has to say about her vacation....

Hi,My name is Jemma. I am from Armenia.I would like to tell you about a very beautiful place in Armenia which is called Tsakhkadzor.It is considered to be one of the most popular winter resorts of Armenia.It is one of the places of our mountainous country,where the beauty of nature appears in its whole variety. Sanatorium-city Tsakhkadzor,is situated in Kotayk region,50 kilometers North from Yerevan,on the eastern slope of Teghenis Mountain and is surrounded with virginal woods and alpine meadows.

The population of Tsakhkadzor is only 2000 people. Founded in 
5th century,Tsakhkadzor has several historical sights
among them -Kecharis monastery which was constructed
in 12th century.


The town is a " second home" for many famous Armenian
scientists,writers and artists, because of the excellent
nature and climate. Here you can visit house-museum of the
world famous Orbeli brothers one of the three brothers-
Hovsep Orbeli was director of the State Ermitage in
St. Petersburg, Russia during years of World War 2).


Coming Tsakhkadzor you will appear in one of a picturesque,
hospitable and peaceful corner of our planet.Today this
beautiful city has turned into a modern resort, as well as
sports and tourism centre. Tourists comein any season,
some of them are Armenians who live in other countries,
the others foreigners who come to see and have a rest.

The virgin nature and the enlivening air, the smiling 
and crystal clean springs,the recreation zones and hotels,
built and furnished in the best European traditions,will meet
you with real Armenian hospitality. And the modern rope-way
will take you to the top of Teghenis Mountain, where the
greens of land and the blue of the sky get in fusion.


People in Tsakhkadzor are very friendly and welcoming,
with a developed culture for winter tourism.
