Since I started blogging,I have always tried to appease my readers with various and innovative topics that could be handy too. That's why I decided to introduce guest blogging from people across the globe so that they can enhance my blog.
The first one to sit on the guest chair is my friend Esmiralda from US, who is a Seventh Day Adventist Christian specialized in the health field and enjoys giving health lectures as she believes that practically everything we do effects our lives and health.
An active member of the Maranatha Mission, one of the many Seventh Day Adventist organisations that spreads the gospel of Jesus Christ through building of schools and churches and rendering health education to the needy.
This organisation works particularly in countries as India, Mozambique, Chili and others.Feel free to check out the website: http://www.maranatha.org/Template_Load.aspx?PageID=242 for more information.
Today she is posting about Anti smoking.She writes.....
According to the World Health Organisation(WHO) report on tobacco 2008, a person dies because of tobacco usage every 6 seconds. Tobacco kills between a third and a half of all the people who use it, and the 5 million who die each year from its consequences represent one tenth of all deaths in the world annually.
Secondhand smoking (someone that does not smoke but inhales fumes from the smoker) causes serious health consequences. Such as: heart problems, lung cancer, childhood asthma, preterm deliveries and low-birth-weight infants. That means the smokers should not only worry about them self but also about others.
I hope that such a reflection will result in our becoming a part of the solution!
All of us can be partners by adopting the WHO strategy, seeking to empower governments, agencies, and local groups in the battle against tobacco. Let's adopt the acronym MPOWER, which stands for:
M= Monitor tobacco use and prevention policies
P = Protect people from tobacco smoke
O = Offer help to quit
W = warn of dangers
E = Enforce bans on advertising promotion and sponsorship
R = Raise taxes on tobacco
LET'S DO ALL WE CAN TO BE AGENTS OF CHANGE!!
Enjoy reading and remain hooked for more of her health posts as well as my new posts.
